The Discovery Center P.A.S.S. Program

(Partnering for Academic Support and Success)

The services that the Discovery Center P.A.S.S. Program provides are available to all HCS students who are experiencing difficulty in one or more areas of learning.  HCS is one of only a few private or public schools in the area that provides this kind of comprehensive program for students who are struggling in the classroom.  HCS is not a public institution and receives no federal funds for these services; therefore, additional fees are charged.  Non-HCS students in the Henderson County area are accepted into the program, depending upon available openings.  The various learning therapies offered at HCS are as follows (prices shown are for HCS students):

NILD (National Institute for Learning Development)

NILD is a program designed to strengthen the areas that cause students to struggle academically in all areas of learning.

Cost: $3,000/year

Search and Teach

The Search and Teach program is an early intervention program for the primary grades that strengthens the areas of weakness that would make a student vulnerable for reading problems.

Cost: $2,000/year

Non-College Prep Track

The Non-College Prep Track is designed for students who are diagnosed with learning challenges and are struggling academically in a traditional classroom.  The class size is limited for the 2010-2011 school year.

Cost:  Tuition + 30%

PACE (Program for Accelerated Christian Education)

The PACE program is for students in the elementary and middle school grades who enter HCS at two or more grade levels below their current grade placement.  This program is designed to close the educational gap for these students.

Cost: $1,200 for the first class; $500 for each additional class

S.T.A.R. (Student Talent Achieving Results)

S.T.A.R. is designed for upper elementary and middle school grade students who have been been diagnosed with learning challenges and are struggling academically in a traditional classroom.  This unique program is taught on a 1:6 ratio.

Cost: Tuition + 30%

Diagnostic Testing

Diagnostic testing enables our educational therapists to determine a student's specific needs so that the proper remediation can be administered.

Cost:  $50 - $450
